MacBaren has a full line of Captain Black inspired tobaccos which are usually ranked higher than the original, all under the Seven Seas line. I did have Seven Seas Original years ago and my general tasting notes are fairly similar but I can note that the mechanics of the MacBaren version was vastly superior. Captain Black Gold is much more natural in aroma, hay, a hint of vanilla, and bit of an ammonia off-note. Reseal the pouch and allow it to sit for around one hour. You should be able to discern improvements in the texture and flavor of your tobacco after this period. You can repeat this step to achieve your desired humidity level, chacom tobacco pipes but be cautious not to over-moisturize as this can lead to further complications. The above method will work on most pipe tobacco that Tobacco General sells to consumers. Although this should remedy most “dry tobacco” cases, this is not a guarantee.
