The padded back panel and adjustable padded shoulder straps ensured a perfect fit every time, reducing strain during long hikes. Despite its smaller size, it carried all the essentials without any discomfort. Just about every other daypack I’ve had falls apart under the weight of my books (med school). I also like the fact that for my outdoor activities, it’s designed to hold a hydration bladder. It even has a rain cover built in, which is great when I’m riding my bicycle across town on a rainy day. With the added height of an inflatable pillow and sleeping pad my head height was indeed close to the curvature of the tent ceiling but there was still enough room.

True, I wasn’t able to remove the rain fly to watch ozark trail backpack the stars or let the wind ventilate my tent, but I was able to enjoy the day hikes without any sort of worry. In essence, I had committed to the permanent rainfly option by default and there was a certain contentedness that came with that. The Ozark Trail brand is known for offering high-quality products at affordable prices. These backpacks are no exception, making them a great option for budget-conscious outdoor enthusiasts who still want functional and reliable gear for their adventures.

I know some will immediately dismiss my review simply because I bought this pack at WalMart. I’ve been attempting to drop weight for the past several years, mostly because my knees can’t handle it. My shelters have gotten lighter as have my sleeping system — next in line for a diet was my carry system. Funds, however, were non existent and my CFO (i.e. my wife) wouldn’t increase my discretionary fund.

If you’re on a multi-day hike, toilet paper and a cathole shovel are necessities. When you have to answer nature’s call, make sure to stay at least 200 yards away from a water source and bury any solid waste at least 6 inches deep. Bring enough water for your trip or a way to purify water to make it safe to drink. Many of the creeks and streams look crystal clear, but it’s still smart to make sure any impurities are removed with pumps or tablets before drinking the water.

The Ozark Trail Association marks and improves the trail and ensures campsites are well maintained. These tests proved to us that not only do both the Yeti and the Ozark Trail mugs do an incredible job at insulating cold drinks, but they perform nearly identically. With the nearly $30 disparity between the Yeti Rambler and the Ozark Trail tumbler, I found it a little hard to believe they could perform similarly. We put the Ozark Trail tumbler and the Yeti Rambler in head-to-head tests to find out how well they perform.

Today I immediately loaded it up and went out for a few hours. For water and OJ I use Vapur anti bottles which aren’t bulky at all. My glucose meter and keys went in the small outside pocket. I did instantly notice the difference of carrying a lighter bag.

Furthermore, I didn’t plan on being in the tent other than during the nights, so a roomier but heavier 1-person tent wasn’t desirable. The weather was going to be great and the hammock was where I wanted to be during the restful moments of the day.
