After a while of riding the chain broke and fell off on the road leaving me without brakes headed into traffic. I suggest buying a new chain for these bikes. So far I’ve had to replace quit a few of the parts on this bike, including the plastic pedals, the handle bar grippers, the chain, and both inner tubes( which suddenly popped with no sign of a puncture). It’s a good looking bike but just about everything on it is trash.

Last weekend, four longtime friends and hikers undertook a hike on the Aspen side of West Maroon Pass. Little did they know that my bike was taken off the showroom floor next to the infant section at a toy store. I was forced to buy Arianna after a homeless person stole my other Huffy (it’s customary in Santa Monica to blame virtually everything on the homeless). But I went to a few bike shops and all the cruisers cost between $300 and $1,000.
I should have brought at least two spares to have a higher margin of safety. I found this Huffy bicycle on the side of a road. Aside from trashed tires and one flat tube, it mostly needed just a cleaning to make it presentable. I shelled out for two new, slightly wider tires (no whitewalls), tubes, and handlebar grips, removed the decals, and added a bell and reflectors I already had. The front fork and chainguard were a very dull silver (a.k.a., gray) that detracted from the look of the chrome fenders, so I sprayed on two coats of Rustoleum gloss white. This 24″ cruiser is comfortable to ride and has so many stylish features.

I, too, went to sleep—at least for the next seven hours. It wasn’t nearly enough to wipe out the sleep debt from the night before, but at least the bed was more comfortable than the weeds.
